A seven-stop route
- Stubenrauchstraße main gate – Study the combination of round arch, pointed gable and wrought-iron gates added around 1912. The historic main axis begins immediately beyond it.
- Information map – Orient yourself just inside the entrance. This is the best place to relate an existing grave reference to the path network.
- Second World War graves – The understated lawn and flat terracotta markers lie near the gate. Remain at the path edge and treat the ground as a coherent memorial space.
- Cemetery chapel – Follow the main axis west to the 1888/89 brick chapel. Pointed arches, terracotta details and the tall roof distinguish it from later buildings.
- First World War memorial – North of the chapel, the shell-limestone column carries the figure of a dying soldier. The memorial was created during 1914–1916.
- Columbarium – Continue to the western edge. The rotunda, cupola and arcades enclose two levels of niche chambers; the circular centre served as an assembly room.
- Water point 6 – The final stop recalls the cemetery’s continuing use. Water is seasonal and should not be treated as a permanently available drinking fountain.
Combining the tour with notable graves
Ferruccio Busoni’s monument lies close to the route between the gate and chapel. For Marlene Dietrich, Helmut Newton and five other people, use the separate notable-graves map afterwards. The tour map deliberately contains general visitor places rather than duplicate grave markers.
Respect and daylight
The route has no fixed duration. Give funerals privacy, avoid narrow side paths during works and begin early enough to leave before sunset. The Fehlerstraße gate is not a visitor shortcut; finish back at the main entrance.
